Good cantilevers

Hey there, I'm looking to upgrade to a better set of cantilevers, more so for all around riding. City, paths, gravel. Please give me your input and experience if you don't mind

Here we go - I'm in the "I hate canti brakes!" camp! IF they're not adjust correctly you get shuddering, squealing and chattering. Even if you do adjust them correctly, you get shuddering, squealing and chattering. Better to get mini-v brakes and be done with it!

Nevertheless, if you need fancy canti brakes, check out Bruce Gordon's "pointy" brakes - too cool!

Expensive, but cool....Good Luck!

I thought TRP made some nice canti's that didn't break the bank. Stopped well for me.

It is hard to beat Tektro CR720s. Add some Koolstop pads and they work great for very short money.

i'm with bfd re cantis. for me, good cantis = mini v
you can get as budget or bling as you like with them. other than mud clearance i've not heard of any areas where a good canti brake is better than a good mini-v.

do you think mini v brakes would work with older ultegra brifters?

I found a set of trp cx9 on ebay for 110$ I might go for it. Any experience group? Thanks for the feedback, I'm new to this forum and an amateur bike mechanic

wait for input from the collective here before pulling the trigger.

i'm not sure but i think for "older" ultegra you'll be happier with the cx8.4. i believe the cx9 is designed for shimano's newer pull ratio.
cx8.4 is slightly shorter to work better with your cable pull
