Do you consider yourself a power tool, or hand and file builder?

For the most part, Iím a hand tool and file builder, although I couldnít get by without my dynafile and a pneumatic die grinder that I use for specific tasks. Other than that, my biggest power tool is a drill press, but that only gets used for drilling fork crowns and some seat lug binders. When I worked at Serotta and Waterford we had dedicated power tools for almost every task, so itís not that Iím anti machine, I just feel like these machines benefit a builder much more if he/she is going to build multiple ďstockĒ sized bikes, for what I do the hand tools work perfectly well and I donít feel like theyíre slowing me down significantly.

What is it that keeps you passionate and focused?

Riding bikes.

How many times have you burned yourself?

I burned myself pretty badly when I was working at Serotta, and I still get a little singed from time to time, but I couldnít even begin to come up with a number. Thankfully, no serious burns in the recent past, although now Iíve probably jinxed myself!

What's your favorite beer?

I donít drink, but I do make a pretty awesome Beef Carbonnade with Chimay Trappist Ale. (Those Belgian monks make some nice beer.)

Heard any cool music lately?

Wow, thatís pretty broad, I have a Pandora account that I listen to quite a bit while Iím working and it ranges from the Talkingheads, Dire Straits, U2, Tribe Called Quest, Bob Marley, Tegan and Sara, Rolling Stones, White Stripes, Johnny Cash, Rage Against the Machine, The Black Keys and on and on.

What's there to do for fun in your town?

Waterford is a pretty small town, but the since Iím already out in the country itís super easy to head out for a ride and within a few miles be on virtually deserted farm roads and just spend hours exploring. The nice thing about Waterford is that itís only about Ĺ hour from Milwaukee, and about 1 Ĺ hours from Chicago, so if Iím looking for culture or fun stuff to do, the city is not far away.

Do you put ketchup on your _braht_?

Well, first Iíll remind you that Iím not a native Wisconsinite, and honestly Iím not a big fan of Brats (gasp!). When I eat hot dogs, I like them naked.
