That’s lovely (and great to see you this side of the Atlantic John!). I hope you got that before they went through that very odd period of jacking prices right up...

Hi Simon,

Had that built just before it all went Pete Tong at Witcomb. That frame was the start of my obsession!

Obscure Was Once My Specialty

I know it says: "...in your collection," but I've always had a soft spot for obscure steel, and this self-isolation thing is making me crazy. And other folks are showing stuff they sold on, so there. These guys have all passed through my hands and found new homes.

'78 Jim Redcay (shot this 10yrs ago---apologies for the ridiculous cable loops!)

'95 Rivendell Road, Waterford build

Coupla Ron Stouts, an early-production '80 and late '92

'88ish Rob Stowe

'90 David Tesch Highway 101

'85 J.P. Weigle Special restomod build

Ooooohh... that looks fast fun and beautifull. Yellow is my favourite color on a bicycle.

She was a lot fast than my legs could move her, with lots in reserve. But my aging lower back wanted wider tires, so she wound up with the son of a good friend/neighbor of Peter's. I found a Weigle that fit fatter rubber, took it to French Fender Day last year, and ran into Old Yeller's new owner, and his dad. His dad sold windsurfing boards back in the day, traded a board for one of Peter's early ATBs back in the '80s, and he and Peter cycled and surfed together.

My newer/older Weigle appended below.

In-house obscurities...

'81 Brodeus---I built this at a Proteus frame class in '81, only frame I ever built. Only one in the world! It was not a smooth build, with not a lot of oversight, so I suspect there might be some cold-brazed joints up in there somewhere.

'80 Echelon Odyssey---Cherubim OE build for Cali trading company DIN (Do It Now!); Odyssey was their sport-tour model

'80 Echelon Spectra---DIN's racier model, blatantly mis-decaled as a Cherubim, which it ain't

The Echelons are some of the cleanest Japanese OE builds I've seen for small US branders.

'14 Specialized Allez 40th Anniv Ldt Ed---DiNucci design, Toyo build. Only 74 were supposedly made, but my serial# is a bit beyond #74, so maybe there were some extras made for warranty or insiders? There's another photo of this with a later build in the neighboring Lugged Steel thread.

I had an interesting chat with him (the dad) that day.

Sorry I missed you...

Hey, the OP also said "rarest or most obscure bicycle you have owned or currently own" (emphasis added), so don't worry about posting past possessions (I didn't!).
