I was just up in Mammoth all week, so I stocked up on some stuff from Mammoth Brewing. Their 395 IPA is pretty decent!

Something new to me...
I think I picked this up at World Market but don't remember for sure. It's called Firestone Wookey Jack Black Rye IPA. I've never had a dark IPA but man this is good stuff.

It was a ton of work plucking all the flower heads for it (a gallon pales worth)... so I only made a 1 gallon batch of the mead... but it was definitely worth it. I started off intending to make a dandelion wine... but it seemed reasonable to use a bunch of honey and make a mead out of it.
On the topic of wild herbs... I think my next batch will be an early spring nettle leaf mead. It'll probably be more medicinal than "good"... but I like trying weird wizard things. |

Find me in May. I should have a yard-full off dandelions by then. Should be easy picking and plenty for your wizardly medicine.

Dogfish head 75 Minute IPA, bottle conditioned IPA with maple syrup, damn fine, but too hard to get and too expensive for an every day.
Tastes real good, not real maply and cuts off the IPA acidy burn with a maple finish. |
