My son and I are planning to drive from Boston up to Walden VT Sunday evening after his rugby game. Our original plan was to try to go to Burlington and ride the Island Line Trail but after hearing about the expected crowds and traffic, we decided to go stay with friends in Walden and ride the LVRT towards St. Albans. After hearing about yesterday’s snow storm up there, we may just leave the bikes home and view the eclipse from our friends farm in Walden or Hill Farmstead in Greensboro Bend. What ever happens, I’m sure it will be an adventure. And we are expecting that there may be “some” traffic…

. . . in the Adirondacks at spots I've been to before that are definitely off the beaten track, plus entrance and escape routes mapped out on RWGPS that avoid all projected area highway routes and stick to back roads I've biked before so I know the way. Heading up that way at 5am and planning to be in place by 8am, then wait and hope for clear sky.

I'll have one tripod with a 1200mm lens to get the corona during totality and another with a wider angle lens to get a lake and forest view with the totality above. We'll see how it goes.

Flew into BNA yesterday. Driving to Western KY to see day turn into night and some family stuff.

2017 we got total near home 2, so cool 2 in short time. luv it.

Almost in position. Got to Ohio today, drive to my viewing site tomorrow. It SAYS it's 90min. I'm leaving 5 hours and will sit in a Denny's, if I get there really early.
Forecast is hopeful.
I was surprised at how easy my drive up for DC was. Only two backups of note. One outside Frederick, MD, where it is always a mess, and the other into Breezewood, Pa.
If you know that area, you will not be surprised when I say I HATE Breezewood.

Even if you are not a nature lover or nature enthusiast, if you are reasonable close you should go. It's just one of those things that we should marvel at when we are able to witness it firsthand. I lived for a year in Quito, Ecuador in 1999 and this bad boy decided to wake up. Definitely the highlight of my encounters with nature. To watch that cloud go up. The lava splashing at night and then watch the entire city blanketed by the ashes was something else.

My wife and I drove straight south from SW Michigan on US31 to Fairmount IN to near the center of the state to where a relative lives and there will be totality. Right now the corner of the sun has a bit out of it. It will be another hour until totality. It is mostly clear skies with a bit of high cloud cover but not enough to obscure the sun.
