Whew! Had to use all of my dalai lama mind tricks today

Restraint.....not a virtue I freely possess, especially when it comes to possessions.

Been watching this limited edition 22of 25 Richard Sachs road bike all week with baited anticipation. I restrained from posting it as a psa because I was eagerly hoping it would pass unnoticed.

Beautiful white on red, not the usual red on white. A little on the small side for me, but doable at 54.5.

It went for a good deal, I think, just not to me. One bid. Damn.

I read the dalai llamas book on happiness some years ago, and one phrase sticks with me always when it comes to purchases.....you pick the item up( or in this case, virtually drool over it) then you say to yourself...do I need this? Will it truly make me happy? Then 99% of the time, your mind is free to put the item back on the shelf.

I was able to put it back on the shelf.

I hope one of you lucky bastards bought it

Now I can get back to the business at hand.

That's cool, as long as you realize that now you will NEVER be as happy as this purchase would have made you. Oh well.

Tick pal, going by dalai pal's suggestion, which I think it's a good one, we all would have to put so much stuff back on the shelves that we can open up our own Walmarts or Amazons...

Hey, it works for me. ( I'm still crying a little from the loss, though

It's all just stuff, anyways, right?

I think I read somewhere that the dali llama has a weak spot for watches... buy what makes you smile (do long as you can afford it).

You would compromise your fit? Do you buy shoes on sale that are too small as well?

Life too's short to ride crap bikes, to paraphrase FYXO.

But poorly fitting bikes are in that crap bike category, regardless of who made them.

Perhaps a stupid question, but how was it "limited?" I mean, a custom builder and your own paint choice...aren't ALL of them "limited editions?"

well, yes, actually. I'm always between sizes.

take me to a shoe store and I'm a size 10 shoe. With narrow feet, I'm usually more comfy in a 9.5.

Plug my body into a fit calculator and I should be peachy with a 56, but I am more comfy in a 55, and with a longer tt and stem over 100mm, 54. Shorter legs than torso)

This one was 54.5...that should be doable.

There will be others.

I am a stock eTT 56.0 but of course I can make a 55-57 work. But I don't. Why compromise when you can wait and get it right.

I saw that frame a week or so ago. If you really wanted it you would have bid, right? The one to have bought was Wooly's 55 NAHBS bike with a fresh JB respray and House decal update. that thing was perfect. just keep refreshing the classifieds or post a WTB.

I do. I think that is part of my problem

No, I've got to finish my big build before spring. Just too many temptations keep getting in the way.

But I'm close, man, I'm close.
