Rather ignorant response..as in, I own one, was sold a car that followed emissions regs, all the time, it doesn't..how am I NOT a victim..you must not own one. Serious question....Is there not a GVW weight pick up truck large SUV class that has less stringent pollution rules than passenger cars? if so....how does the current TDI tail pipe emissions compare to those vehicles? Just curious.

I've wondered this too. Or, how does the tailpipe compare to any one of the huge Ram TurboDiesel monsters that every bridge-and-tunnel contractor is driving around the city.

I think both the Dodge diesel and VW fall into tier 2 emission standard. Dodge/Cummins have been ahead of emission standards since 20071/2. Emission repairs are expensive no matter what brand. Many diesel forums talk about emission delete. VW took this to the corporate level- NOT the owners
