Red and Gold Concours Ti

Most recent picture:

Picked this baby up on ebay a month or so ago, rode it a few times with the 9 speed Ultegra, and then decided to update it.

How it showed up:

A couple changes before breaking it down:

As it sits now:

Pretty much done, I just need to take it in to swap the headset for a black one (can't find a gold one cheaper than $130 ) and cut the steer tube to get rid of that awful spacer.

Then it just needs bar tape (black), and maybe a seat post at some point!

Serial number is CT 53 485, anyone have an idea on the year?

6800 Groupset
Salsa Stem
Soma Hwy One bars
Salsa seat post collar
Giant SLR1 wheels
Corsa G+ tires

It's 1 inch threaded , only gold ones I've found are CK, CC, and IRD. The IRD is cheap enough but I CANNOT find anyone with a gold one in stock.

$130 is a good chunk of change for a headset, but a gold CC 110 is the cream of the crop. It might sting at first, but you wouldn't regret it.

That's a great looking bike.

My old concours was probably the smoothest bike I've ever had. I loved that bike and may buy another someday. Yours is probably a late 90's frameset. I think they went to 1 1/8th head tube in 2001 or 2002. You have a fantastic bike there. It was the first bike I'd ever done a 100 mile ride on and was my go to for any mixed riding before I picked up a cross/adventure bike.

I have a newer ti frame now which is fantastic as well, but it's more racy and snappy than the concours was. I don't think they get much better for all day comfort and great overall performance than a serotta titanium bike from that era.

It is always nice to see a cool Serotta to remind us of the origins of this Forum.

Awesome!

Yup, definitely brothers! Interesting to see the subtle difference in the paint job. (seat stay paint break is much higher on yours). How often did Serotta change paint schemes? Would this paint have been available multiple years or just '99?

I'm going to call mine a '99 until I figure out a better answer.
