What a crooked bunch. I'm glad I don't drive a VW:

LONDON Volkswagen is staking out an aggressive response to its emissions-testing crisis in Europe, where the vast majority of affected vehicles were sold, by essentially saying: We didn't cheat here.

The companyç—´ system to trick, or defeat, pollution tests, which VW has admitted installing in millions of vehicles globally, is not a forbidden defeat device under European rules, a company spokesman said in a statement to The New York Times.

The companyç—´ determination, which was made by its board, runs counter to regulatory findings in Europe and the United States. German regulators said last month that VW did use an illegal defeat device.

85 year old's TDI declared a lemon on Florida court today:

"In a case that could have broader implications, a Florida lemon law board just declared a cheating Volkswagen a ć–—emon, and ordered VW to buy it back."

The linked article also says that VW was successful in having a similar case thrown out, so who knows...

I'd be shocked if that ruling ends up holding, and even more shocked if it ends up precedent setting.

That said, that is what it'd take for me to give up my car, the full price I paid. Otherwise, I'm driving the wheels off of it, just like I always planned.

I'm going to have my wife call our attorney and see what they say about this. I've got the time and I'm just pissed off enough to make the needed trips to the dealer to try and lemon law the car.

I can't tell if there's new news here or not. Regardless, buybacks, at least for some cars, appear to be on the table.

Glad to read VW is feeling the pressure of time. You'd never know it as an owner of an afflicted car.

At this point it would be nice to at least get a hint as to whether or not I own a car (2010) that probably can't be fixed. 110k cars isn't a lot in the bigger scheme of things but I'm guessing that includes the late '08 and '09 vehicles with the old round headlights.

I think they are talking about all cars with the EA 189 engine. What years was that used?
