God help me if on a ride someday, I come across the 10 (Lady), with a Ponytail, riding a terraplane. I'll probably go off the edge of the road at speed or hit the first inanimate object in my path....I'm a sucker for attractive women in ponytails....riding Terraplanes...or driving jeeps.

This one is pretty 'unrefined' compared to what has been posted here. Nevertheless, Jack and his brothers are/were skilled craftsmen.

Filet brazed frames and body filler

Is automoblie body filler used in making smooth looking filets? Seems to me just braze, file a bit than use body filler and sand smooth would be easy way to get great looking filets. Yes not what you wanted to read

Here's my (poorly light) contribution. Had the choice between filet and TIG and, well, filet wins every time.

Yes - unfortunately that can happen. I've even seen tig welded bikes 'converted' to fillets with more than a bit of filler.

I owned a fillet brazed MTB many many years ago that was built by one the the masters and it had fillet brazed 'bullmoose' style bars. I crashed it hard once - hard enough to bend the bars badly - and the fillets came off! Nice smooth bondo fillets lay in the mud and rough nasty ones were left showing.

I suppose on one hand it matters little - they look good and will probably stay together. But...........it's still not right and I suppose it's fraud or theft in some way. If one expects that the fillets are well done under the paint but they aren't then the buyer got the short end of the stick. This is why I always send raw photos to the customer so they can see what is under there before it heads off to paint and any good builder should be proud to do so.

Buyer beware I guess.

Dave
