Lower price entry to power meter
For everyone like me it is getting hard to resist buying a power meter. Wateam has cut their price to $259 which is not bad at all compared to where all of this started. For the Campy people they now support Potenza and should support the new Centaur.
See article on DC Rainmaker's site at: https://www.dcrainmaker.com/2017/09/...s-pricing.html I never thought power was worth tracking but I am beginning to rethink based on this move. Alan |

very cool. Lets hope this forces other prices to come down.
too bad no campy compatibility (save for potenza since its a non carbon crank, I get it though, same with 4iiii) |

WatTeam says they are currently working on a new sensor that will work on carbon cranks. Of course, they've been saying this for quite a while now, so no telling when (or if) they will be successful.

Watteam says they support hollow aluminum cranksets. Campy's site says Potenza is hollow Al. I would guess that Centaur is the same, just a more matte finish, but Campy hasn't put the info for the new Centaur up yet. Has anyone heard different?

I admittedly haven't followed their offering super closely. sounds like there's a couple minor issues with it, which I'm sure will get ironed out over time (or may be fixed in this new version, since there's new algorithms). does look kinda jank tho, with the wires hanging off there. I'd think it's for road only.
still, if it drives competition, that's a good thing. power meters for sure will be like HRM's or cadence/speed sensors eventually, where if you want one, the price isn't wasn't holding you back. |

I've had my eye on a Pioneer Powermeter, and their prices never seem to budge. Pretty good pricing discipline actually.

I have the left side only Pioneer on my Ritchey. Works fine. I paid $400 including a brand new Ultegra 6800 crank.
