Specialized gets a taste of their own medicine

"Federal Court Upholds Validity of Stan's NoTubes Patent"

"Stan's NoTubes was left with no choice but to protect its proprietary technology by suing to stop Specialized's alleged infringement"

Nice. Cannot imagine Stan's legal fees bill after 8 years of wrangling with big S.

Specialized does not seem to be a very nice company, I would hope that they will have to pay some price for this kind of behavior.

I for one, will not be purchasing any specialized equipment.

I don't know if spec has sued anyone for patent infringement, it's always been trademark. Which is a much lower form of IP

knowingly violating someone's patent leads to triple damages, at least that's the way I understand it.

not meaning to ···· on you but if this kind of behavior bothers you . . .

Apple, Microsoft, Google, Samsung, LG, Sony, Phillips, etc. etc. etc all behave the same way.

If you win a case though the judgement includes attorney fees doesn't it?

Most likely not. My company had a competitor copy our main product to the t- after millions in legal and not to mention lost sales, judge told them to stop it. That's it.

I'm with False on this...why the hate for Specialized and the love (passion, if fact) for Apple, a company that sues at the drop of a hat. They even sued over the Android phones swipe right to open function.

Usually when someone violates a patent, they get to pay damages. So I assume Stan's gets something out of the deal

If it wasn't protected by patent, there really isn't anything you should be able to do about this. The right to use the full power of the government to protect your business is outlined in the constitution, but it's limited.

Apple is pretty evil on this score. They wanted to sue Android in general, but realized they couldnt' beat google and couldn't really afford to piss off Samsung so they sued HTC. And now they are bricking customer's phones if they have been repaired

I'm with Cinema on Spec helmets. I have a long narrow head. The Spec helmets give the best fit. Otherwise, I'm not a huge fan of the big three. I had a friend who once owned a shop and "T" pulled their bikes and gave them to a competitor. He finally did get a settlement, but he had to fight for it in court.
