Moots 59 compact sizing question.

Those of you with a size 59 compact, could you measure the actual top tube length? I'm looking at getting one and the seller is stating it has a 56 eff tt. I think he's mixing up effective and actual tt measurments. Thanks for the help.

I don't know the age of the frame you are considering but currently there are no stock 59cm MOOTS road bikes. They are 58 or 60 so maybe it is a custom and you have to satisfy yourself as to its design and measurements.

It's a couple years old, before the current vamoots cr model. They were just called "compact"

Ask for a picture of the tape measure on the frame. Lots of people provide pics like that when listing frames for sale. You could also ask for end to end head tube length, which is harder to mess up, to help sort out which frame it is.

I have a 2004 compact sl. Just measured and it is 57 cm center to center measured along the top tube. I know it is 58 cm effective TT. Let me know if you want any other measurements. I have the original specs printed out.

Before the current geometry the 59 cm was the stock measurement. I have an '04 vintage 59 cm.

Here's a link to the 2009 catalog, which is good for frames from 2005/06 or so (I think the headtube heights were tweaked in '05 or '06). The geometry for the Compact is listed on page 38. It doesn't show ETT measurements, but Idris Icabod's sounds right. If the frame is stock, I agree that the headtube height is the best measurement to work off of, since it's the easiest to take.

Something's not adding up. Did some trigonometry and with the angles in the catalog I can't get a 56 tt. Seller spoke with moots and they told home it's a 59 standard non-custom frame and is stamped 59 on the bb. I ride a 56, so was hoping it would fit. I'll just wait and find something that I'll know will fit. Thanks for all the help everyone.

For anyone wondering, here's the frame in question: http://www.ebay.com/itm/like/2215325...ectorid=229466

It wont fit if you ride a 56. Its a standard 59 compact and has a 58 effective tt like mentioned above.

I'm not sure he is doing himself any favours, it is clearly a 59 cm with a 58 cm eff TT, why he is measuring the actual seems pointless and confusing. I just measured mine again and can see why he got 56 cm, I get 56.5 or 57 depending on how I squint. It is a great deal at $1,200 but it won't fit you.
