Kind of lends credence to the old saying that most pro's just ride bikes but don't really know the mechanics...

Ain't the carbon that 'may' be a problem but the glue.

It's good to hear a carbon framebuilder disputer Cavendish's claims.

I agree with you. Now expound on your opinion. I'm interested.

Carbon bike for the long haul? Not for Cav

An interesting experiment for Tour / Velo / Ride magazines that do some stiffness tests in a jig.
Take 4 or 5 top level new bikes and compare them to the same size frame that has been used by a pro racer for a few months or a season and compare them to see if there is any deterioration in stiffness.

Even more accurate would be to test a Team bike at the beginning of a season, and then at the end, but the logistics of keeping track of a bike would be pretty hard and often bikes are damaged in transit or crashes.

Parlee Z5, Trek Madone, Colnago Dream,

yeah, this is true for most other celebrities...they might be good at doing whatever they are famous for, athletics, singing, dancing, acting, whatever, but they rarely have anything worth listening to in an interview.

I'd love to see him say that with a straight face to you.

From what I know many of the pro sprinters get reinforced frames, the regular ones probably will crack really quick.

An example, is not the same material and not the same era of bikes but anyways. For example the old alan and vitus aluminum frames, they were not bad frames at all but all of the alan and vitus I remember sprinters used, they all cracked or got bonding problems before 6 months. The pacists roadies never got problems at all but maybe after 2 years, that was maybe the most you were able to get out of one of those under abnormal elite racing conditions. For a sunday rider one of these ones can last almost forever.

We are talking here of guys that really bang the bicycles too.
