Carbon bike for the long haul? Not for Cav

So Cav wears out his carbon bike in a few months and says that it takes a year for the other guys:

I wonder what the physics are for sprinting that far forward? And how that far forward changes what muscles he recruits? Whatever the details are, he can sure go fast...just not always straight.

... or has the good fortune to decide he wants a "fresh" bike very couple of months...

A fresh racquet, new skis, whateva, always has some extra "crispness". Maybe worn (out) - maybe not. Use whatever gets you across the finish line...

Carbon fatigues less than metal, so maybe metal bikes would only last a few weeks? I just bought a metal bike....

I have a hard time believing the bike is worn out in a couple months, but then again we have a very good local racer (nowhere near Cav's ability) who has broken about 4 carbon frames in the past 3 years. He's a big gear masher and leans the bike waaay over when he's putting the power down. They typically crack in the BB area. I've seen them myself ( Fuji, trek, and one other brand).

Carbon has a theoretical infinite lifespan. It does not wear out bit by bit. Sounds like a placebo. Whatever it takes to win.

It sounds like a bike not fit for purpose. Maybe a bit of work needs to be put into increasing durability rather than shaving a few grams.

I ride a 50 myself, but.......

Cavendish's level of bull**it is only equaled by his massive self love.

I better stop flying then, as they use too much of that carbon stuff in the aircraft these days.

Cav puts more stress on a bike than do all those sissy takeoffs and landings.
