Yup - need to get in an early morning ride as spain/italy starts at 2:45 - on fox Deportes, fox sports 2 HD, fox sports 2.

Spain looks better on paper, but I wonder if they are more of a paper tiger. Italy, who seems to be in want of a striker, thrashed Spain in the Euros but wasn't able to do much when they faced of later in qualifying. Perhaps a 2-2 draw?

I hope you're right, but the Spain Under 21 beat Italia 3-0 today....

Hopefully tomorrow the big boys will exact some revenge. Chiellini out is a problem, though.

D(ISCO)ASTER so far.

I don't see a better second half for ITA.

Messi...wow as always. Slicing and dicing Juve as if they were some bottom-half Serie B squad.

The Juve wits out in full force early in the 2nd half:

A Barca-PSG final would be very interesting this year.

to be fair, Juve was missing two centerbacks who anchored that stout defense last year. But even then...

Still not fully convinced about Barça, not when they got whopped at home by Real

PS. Could you change the title of the thread to reflect the fact that all football talk is welcome? Otoh, the Zlatan will most likely get to play in the knockout rounds, thanks to some ridiculously easy schedule.

Good idea. Is the new title better, more inclusive?

Oh, no doubt The Zlatan will be there. I think the order of grand, historic arrivals will soon be re-written as:
5) Christopher Columbus went on some sailing trips.
4) Charlie Lindbergh went from Long Island, USA to Paris, France. In the air.
3) Neil Armstrong left the Earth, walked on the Moon, and then returned to the Earth.
2) Baby Jesus was born.
1) In late 2017/early 2018 The Zlatan stepped onto the pitch, again, this time resplendent in his new ManU #10.

much appreciated!

also one has to wonder where his goal against England should be on that list . Perhaps a top ten?

in unrelated news, Tottenham v BVB today, for all those aboard the Pulisic hype-train. Liverpool v Seville should also be good. I was watching the highlights of the 2016 Europa final, and it sure looked as if Liverpool got royally screwed by the officials.

edit: must have been thinking of another Champions League/Europa League match in which Liverpool got knocked out

16 1st round CL matches yesterday and today:
Goals for win/draw squad: 44
Goals for loss/draw squad: 10
Only 4 draws.

Pretty crazy imbalance....

Well...Inter isn't even in Europa this year....

It could be a tough season for Napoli though, between the very high expectations and playing on three fronts (Serie A, Champions, Coppa Italia) with essentially 15 players. I do hope they do well, though; when they're on they're a very fun team.

bit slow here, is that Juve, Roma, or Napoli?

Nvmd, I should have googled that. Thanks for the history lesson.

Also, could someone explain if Harry Kane committed a foul on his goal to scoring his first goal of the match? Dude threw the defender to the ground to clear his path. Imagine the reaction had that been Diego Costa...
