Yep, Nao does amazing work, I feel lucky to have been able to learn from him. Definitely paint though...or some sort of surface treatment to the metal (to be reapplied regularly)...clear over steel never ends well.

Oh well, I used a clear coated fixed gear bike for daily commuting through wind and rain. 40km a day, five days a week and apart from some minimum rust under the bottom bracket all is fine after 14k. My new project won't be a daily ride so no issues there.

The top cap has been modified by Bart at WIND cycleworks to join a Campagnolo bolt and is now - IMHO - absolutely perfect...

Biggest change: worried about the durability of the transparent powdercoated finish I decided to sent the frame, fork and stem to Brady at BCP Special Paintwork for a coat of RAL 5004 darkblue metallic paint with painted-on silver colored "decals"...

that top cap is super cool, wish the campy screw was brass as well but will probably look great not being the same. This is going to be a very cool bike for sure

Impossible to do the dark blue metallic paintjob justice under artificial light but you'll get the idea...

The color looks much better out in the sun. The project is on hold for a moment while I try to source a set of 172.5mm 110 BCD Tune Fast Foot cranks so I can get them polished and engraved.
