True, but that blue Katusha kit actually looks pretty sharp.

I realize I'm a rare minority on here but I actually do watch anime (and on very rare occasions read manga). To me it's no different than watching TV. A lot of it is unrealistic but so is most of TV and movies...it's just a different form of media...I'd also make the same argument about video games.

For the record I have a girlfriend of 6 years who's alive, not a pillow and attractive too. Likely you know people who watch anime but there's just a very negative attitude about it. If you met me in real life you'd never know I was into this stuff.

Also, at no point did I take any offense to the posts above. I only "came out" to add to the discussion from the other point of view:

This is what I came to post though...I watched this a few years ago and found it to be enjoyable and actually got me excited to bike just as much as watching the tour did this year:
http://www.animeshinobi.com/over-drive.html

I doubt anybody on here is open to watching it but I'll probably give it another watch through this winter on the trainer/rollers as a means to keep things interesting...I try to watch cycling related stuff for motivation.

Anime fan here too, but im not fan of cycling anime jerseys. Really tacky IMO.

The problem is that the designs are just like coming from the caribe and nobody can tell crap what it is. Would be cool to see a jersey with the colors and design of the Yamato officers for example.

I'm still trying to figure out . . .

. . . how the manga style developed when it came from Japan and the typical anime/manga character most obviously does not look Japanese. The women all have the same kind of distortion a Barbie doll has, though in slightly different ways. Huge eyes in proportion to the rest of the body instead of huge, well, you know . . .

I think it has to do A LOT to do with how Japanese culture has changed over the years...specifically after they started trading with other countries:
I'd highly recommend reading into what I'm going to say...it's very interesting and I'm probably going to get some things wrong.

Japan used to have a much more "erotic" culture...sex in art, women not wearing panties and "liberating" clothing.
When Japan started trading with other countries there was A LOT of culture clash which lead to Japanese society changing their view on "eroticism" and now Japan has heavily censored porn, obsessions with panties...etc

...basically, I think the Japan we know today is very quirky and strange because of their past culture and the transition to where they are today.

Oh yeah, eye makeup...this is just an assumption/theory but I think that a lot of women in Japan focus heavily on making their eyes look bigger just like women in other countries focus on their figure...it's like eye cleavage.
