Yep, that's what I saw......wouldn't expect RAI to give a balanced view when it was Pozzovivo sitting on the front "waiting" by riding tempo

Not a Dumoulin fanboy but he rode a pretty heroic ride today to keep the maglia rosa. Doesn't bode well for the rest of the week but hopefully he can claw back some time in the ITT.

If this problem happened to any of the schlecks we could be hearing them complaining about having to pooh in the middle of the road, that the climbing was too steep, the downhill was too dangerous and that the other riders did not want to share the toys with them.

Honestly, the dutch have guts.

Tom Dumoulin:
I just had problems, I needed to take a dump - I couldn’t hold it anymore. It was after the Stelvio I began to feel it in the downhill. I had to stop, it was not possible to continue anymore.

I had to fight and fight and fight, and take conclusions after the finish. That’s what I did. I’m very disappointed with today.

A hard man would have just cut loose, and kept riding.

Guaranteed solo win. Who's gonna follow your wheel?

didn't quintana even say he'd need a minute or so of buffer before he felt comfortable with the lead going into the final ITT?

Giro here

First off, it is not recommended that you eat breakfast, hop on your bike and immediately begin one of the world's great climbs. That's essentially what happened today as our hotel in downtown Bormio is just down the street from the beginning of the long slog up to the summit. But enough bitching.

(Actually, no, some more bitching. Turkish Airlines once again said they had no idea where my bike was/is. They contacted each airport along the way and no one knows. So, it's beginning to look like the Wilier with the horrendous 28T in the back is my fate for the week. That said, today was a day when a 28 wasn't bad. There were only a couple of places on the mountain where I wish I had more gears, particularly on the 13-14% part that comes after the multiple snow tunnels. But gearing up and standing and pedaling on Look Keos is easier than standing on my trusty Speedplay Xs. It's weird. Has me rethinking pedal choices.)

Scenery-wise, the Stelvio is - if you like mountains - easily the most scenic climb I've ever done. On one side is Switzerland Another, Austria. And because most of the road is exposed, rather than in trees, you can see the climb from way, way down. Beautiful, yet somewhat daunting.

Also daunting is when you are passed by a backpack wearing man sprinting uphill ... on his feet. Yeah, running. This guy had passed others of our group who were behind me on the climb and all of us cursed him under our breath.

Anyway, after many minutes of pounding away made it to the top of the Stelvio, only slightly before the Giro riders. Ha.

Stayed on top long enough to buy a new Stelvio kit and then to watch the leaders crest. Got this snap of Dumoulin et. al.

Then it was back downhill and this view.

Tomorrow, Passo Tonale and a three-hour transfer.

Lets imagine the dutch is ok the next days and they cant get more than a minute out of him before the last stage. Then sure at the last stage he will get 1 minute or more back out of the ITT... this race wont be won till the last stage IMO.

Wish the TdF was like that, the race is boring like hell... giro and vuelta races way more fun to watch.
