Specialized shoe strap loop broken

I was opening up this strap to clean the inside of the shoe and the rectangular loop that the buckle strap slots through ended up breaking.
The strap itself is fine.

Old Specialized BG shoe so probably age and sun doing a number on the plastic. Highly doubt Spec has this as a replacement part.
Hate to put this into landfill.

Anyone ever manage to repair or replace this?

Does it look like any of their currently for sale shoes use a similar strap? If so, you might get lucky and they could send you one, whether they're officially for sale or not. If so, then I bet a cobbler would be able to replace it. Might not look as good at the original, but it's worth trying.

Maybe modify something like this?

The Specialized plastic strap may go through the Sidi piece?

That is going to be a tuff one. I am thinking you need some sort of mechanical way (more than just glue) to attach given the force involved here.

My brain goes to ways to skip the loop, and just attaching the strap directly to the white leather part remaining. Could a cobbler do some heavy stitch? Cut a hole in the leather and somehow reinforce?

I would take to a shoe repair place and see if they can get creative.

Did you contact Soec Support?

Spec may be able to help as it appears the ratchet straps still can be purchased in some places?

The OP’s shoe strap failure is common to Specialized shoes of that generation. I have a pair that had both shoes’ straps failed similarly. The shoes were retired to trainer duty at that point, so I wasn’t concerned about reliability on the road. I repaired them by using Barge Cement to bond the top of the plastic ratchet strap directly to the leather part of the strap. They’ve held up for several years of trainer duty.

Find a donor shoe. Do some heavy duty sewing or take the shoes to a shoe repair shop to transplant.

Shops used to have sewing machines that could do this easily.

a repair by a good cobbler would be the only way I'd ride those again. If you've gotten a good 5+ years out of them, I would be happy
