Sure it's not everyone's cup o' tea

But damn, I'm into this.

Operation Hawt

TL;DR: It's a Hawt Pank OG-1.

Pretty cool but man are they masters of marketing.

No matter the paint or the name on the head tube $5k-7k non-custom steel bikes are not going to be in my budget any time soon!

Perhaps the bike will inspire you to be fast enough to ride it.

I think I prefer the Citron, but still pretty cool stuff.

A bit too hyperhip and instagrammy for me. I'm just not ready for all the "Hawt", "OG", and "shred-readiness" these things have to offer.

it's a cool bike, and i would definitely ride it, but i think the use of the word "Hawt" is completely ridiculous.

I dunno.. maybe it rides like a magic carpet, but it's a little boring to look at without any decals. Give me this instead:

This exactly.. They seem like awesome bikes, and have the marketing aspect nailed down but it's a lot of cash any way you swing it for something that isn't designed and spec-ed just for me

Agreed. Decals can make or break a bike. Also, the pink stem & ISP on the other one are one step too far, imo.

I have to agree with benb that Speedvagen as a company is a master of marketing, and I agree with velofinds that the bike's lack of decals leaves me wanting. I wish the OG-1 would at least dispense with the Ghost graphic and at least replace it with a contrasting color logo, but it's tempting as-is and they deserve creative credit for coming up with the alternative "decal" style.

But I get it; I don't doubt they are labor-intensive to produce and I think the bare bones OG-1's are there to set the hook. Once you're caught, you really want to upgrade to the other paint jobs.

For sure you can buy many custom frames for much less than a Speedvagen, even the OG-1 frameset, but for me the allure is still there.

Let them work their magic; I wish them all the sales in the world.

Oh; and I love the Hawt Pink! The Citron and Lavender aren't bad either.

You do realize that's $5-7K for a complete bike, right?

I mean, a Madone 9.2 is $5499 MSRP for an Ultegra build and wonky aluminum-rimmed carbon wheels...

In that light, $5XXX for this bike doesn't seem unreasonable.

Of course, I'd rather put $2,500-3,000 into custom steel and bargain hunt for the kit to build it out how I want it, but for the buy-it-off-the-shelf crowd, it's not exactly a bad option.
