I don't like the lights on the Fly's. I just don't need them and they add to the cost. I've been waiting for something else to come out. The Ride Eye was a great idea but as far as I can tell it totally flopped.

I agree, both my wife and I already have better front and rear lights, although I'm going to guess that the cost the lights add is negligible (~$5-$10) vs the marketable functionality added to a setup costing hundreds.

Thumbs up

You have to prioritize what you want and be willing to compromise.

My thought process went like this:

- this camera MUST take good enough video. For me, 1080p is the minimum. I not only want to see details of a license plate, the movie or recording must be good enough for social presentation or showing.

- the mount must be both secured and versatile, meaning able to mount on either a seat post or handlebar and won't come off easily even riding in rough terrain, mtb trails and such.

- battery will last through an average ride of 4-5 hrs or less, or at least have a way to extend the battery life.

- not too costly - for me, less than $200

- leave room for saddle bag and rear light

Those are my "top"/must-have requirements, beyond that, I am willing to take a hit on weight, footprint/size, within reasons of course.

This is the setup that works for me.

Garmin Virb action camera (discontinued) mounted behind on seatpost (at all times) and occasionally on handlebar up front. I will either bring an extra battery to change out at 2:15hr mark or wire a small USB battery stick to the camera and turn it on when the battery life is running low

I get the mount adapters on ebay for less than $2.

Maybe you should read the discussion? 3 of the 4 are contact & the 4th is a clear attempt at.
No kidding, a vid might be useful in a hit & run.

My question was, show me an example of close calls, where most likely a law was broken (3ft or a right hook, for example) that are captured & result in any action by LE. The typical sort of stuff we face every day.
