I used a shim to use my 27.2 post in a 31.6 Cannondale. No issues for the 3? years I rode the frame.

I bought the frame as a bike and sold off the big fat post right away so it's not like I didn't have the post. I chose not to use the wide diameter post.

When I first read the word "shim" I thought of a soda can shim and thought, No Way.

The other responses made me realize you were referring to a proper shim, I hope!

My Soulcraft has a Cane Creek shim. It's very precise looking. If you can get one, do it.
