I have certainly packed up quite a few nice bicycles and traded with other members here from all over. I have never had one of those experiences go wrong. There is a lot more trust in the regulars here than most other places!

Not weird, but definitely meaningful for me: earlier this year, I boxed and shipped a gorgeous, classic Serotta for a fellow paceliner. The seller was a very good friend who lives near me. I really enjoyed connecting two people through a beautiful bike!

Not particularly weird, but ages ago when I first heard about 'Crumpton', someone here reached out to me with an offer of a frame and fork for an amazing price. I was fairly naive, but not so much so that I didnt wonder if it was beaten or stolen. He said that I could just contact his LBS and ask the mechanic there named 'Craig' about the bike if I wanted a more objective assessment and a character reference that it wasnt stolen (not that I suggested it, but he knew what I was concerned about).

So, I called "Craig' and found out his last name was 'Gaulzetti' - we chatted and he said, 'dude, its in mint condition - I think the seller is going through some personal stuff and getting divorced, so hes just selling things off. No red flags from me. I dont know what he is asking for the price, but I confirm its virtually mint".

Anyhoo, I bought it and it was mint, and sadly, it was just a hair off in the fit, so I sold it along after enjoying it for a couple of years - my one and only Crumpton!

For the life of me, I forget the seller's PL handle, but I think he is still here? He was a nice guy and hopefully the divorce is wayyy off in his rear view mirror!

Dial indicators seem like overkill but they certainly are an aid to vision. Without them I used to struggle with light and shadow and sight line.

'Might' want to invest in a Park base, then secured to a bench or wood base..to be able to tilt that rig, rather than having it rest on a stool. Dials, even in the hands of accomplished wheel builders, can drive you nuts...Particularly on 'some' carbon rims which are often way less 'finished and smooth' than an aluminum rim...particularly disc brake rims.
