No commuting today in the NE

Gusts around 50, using windfinder website. Pretty slick interface. I'm calling it not safe for us to share a road with cars today. It got me thinking that if climate change keeps up at this rate, the people alive right now might be some of the last to enjoy outdoor cycling as a sport. That makes me quite sad.

I was going to go for a ride today, didn't even think about that (beyond unpleasant headwinds) but I might just hold off... it is crazy windy out there.

Gusts around 50, you say? I smell some new segment records on strava....

Just have to pick the route with wind direction in mind

riding in the woods today!

I can understand the safety aspect, gusts that strong can be a serious issue. But why not train in it? If safety weren't an issue that is, could make ya a better rider!

anyway be safe out there all

Same, just rode 23 miles on the MTB before work. I ate ****, but it wasn't the wind's fault

I also did my normal three mile commute to the office, but I guess the city buildings shield roads from some of the wind.

Out on the Cape it's pretty bad. I guess I should have specified since all you city dwellers are heading out for a ride!

Rode at lunchtime today. We're pretty inland here and while the wind was definitely a factor, always felt safely below a dangerous level. It was a constant wind without any real gusts, which helped. It's those out of nowhere sideways winds that mess you up. Now the sun is even out. Who knew?

Word. I saw some footage of the beach erosion... a car basically sliding down a slope of undermined sand. Unfortunate, but inevitable. Some areas should not be built on.

definitely felt it this morning...bridge from quincy over the neponset was particularly thrilling. constant headwind added 10min to commute, felt weak and tired...ill take it over rain though

Wind doping! A Strava tradition.

I'm just the opposite - if its very windy, I stay out of the woods! I've been hit by small branches on windy days, and seen a few riders nearly hit by trees that the wind blew over. Roadways are usually kept better clear of trees/branches that might fall in high winds.
