I'm not surprised that Lappartient won, I'm surprised by the margin of victory. Cookson didn't get a single European vote.

Does this mean the European cycling federations thought Cookson wasn't doing a good enough job - or that he was doing too good a job?

I'll guess he was doing a great job for British cycling interests and next to nothing for everyone else.

don't know enough of the internal politics, but clearly lots in cycling could be changed for the better. Good luck to this new guy, hope he makes the necessary changes.
