Anyone know if you can run a 12 speed Dura Ace cassette on a Sram red AXS group? Have so many 11 speed wheels…. Thanks

What hubs do those wheels use? Almost all hubs made since 2017 are compatible with xdr since it’s basically xd with an extra 1.8mm shaved off the bottom. Da12 cassette doesn’t play that well with the axs chains, so you’d be better off just getting the correct freehubs and cassettes instead of worrying about wear, performance and compatibility issues.

Hi, the hubs are Extralite Cyber. Can’t seem to find a XDR for those -Fairwheel is out of stock etc… thanks for any help!!

The best solution would, of course, be to run a SRAM XDR cassette but you've noted that the freehub body is difficult to find. Not best practice but I'm running a 12-speed Ultegra cassette (11/34T) on a Rival AXS drive train on one bike and it works fine. Technically the rollers are larger on AXS chains (from what I understand) and I'm not sure of the long term ramifications of running this Frankenstein setup, but from purely a "does it work" standpoint it seems to be ok...

Yeah in that case you might be best off using the shimano 12 cassette with a shimano 12 chain and a shimano 12 compatible crank/chainrigs. I think the pulleys on the axs RDs are compatible with the shimano 12 chain, but if not then replacement pulley wheels are pretty cheap

Will end up costing about the same as a regular axs setup with appropriate freehub, but could weight a bit more.

Yes, it works fine.

I have multiple AXS groups with Shimano 12s cassettes.
I've had slight lockring clearance issues with Tune hubs on two of my frames, but every other combination has been good.

The roller radius difference of 0.003 inch has never been a problem for me. I've used Campy Chorus 48/32, with Campy 12 cassettes, and a bunch of Shimano GRX cranks in both 11 and 12 speed with the AXS chain and had no problems. Using cassettes that start with an 11 calls for bigger chain rings.
