700x fatty tire (40-50mm) suggestions.

I ordered one on the new BMC frames and trying to decide on a tire for the frame in my area, SF/Marin Headlands.
Clement MSO 40mm,WTB Riddler 45MM, Clement MSO 50mm.
Of those 3 I kinda favor the Riddler for the type of terrain I'll be riding (which is a bit like this review). http://www.44bikes.com/wtb-riddler-t...t-impressions/

You will love the bike. I recently bought one and outfitted it with a set if Rock N Roads. They are really nice, even on pavement.
You may also want to check out the Gravelkings in 40mm. I ised the SK's in 32mm on the Geekhouse and they were super as well.

Tires

You don't need anything that big for the Headlands-
Get some 700x37mm WTB Riddlers and you will be fine.
The 40mm tires are really slow on pavement.

Nothing but praise for WTB Nanos and Bruce Gordon Rock 'n' Roads, on pavement, gravel, or otherwise.

Bruce Gordons are better in mud, despite their larger size, but are heavier than the Nano.

Soma Cadazero looks pretty nice, too. Should last longer on pavement than the Bruce Gordon.

good read... I'm looking to get a different set of tires than the Rock n Roads I have now and the Riddler looks good... still intrigued by that 50mm MSO though...

Looking forward to seeing what you choose!

BTW- I wish I had that kind of terrain here!

No but boy is it fun running high volume, I'm not in it for speed. I ride a lot of the trails in GG park and they are a blast, lots of sand and beach too from Pacifica to San Francisco.

i've had a black mountain monster X for almost a year now, and I've gone through 3 sets of tires. I had the 40c Nanos, then wore em out & replaced with the BG RnRs. The RnRs were too intense of a tread, and felt pretty slow for my use. I sold them & got the riddlers, which are loads faster, but offer a bit less bite in any kind of deep dirt or mud.

I live in SF and ride Marin every once in a while. I'd say go for the Riddlers. Nano's are good, too. With riding to and from and across the GGB, I feel the tread of the Riddler is nice on the road before hitting the dirt.

WTB Nano race 700x40. Love them - good volume, and not slow at all. Great grip on dirt and grass. I run them for cyclocross.

I'm running 40mm SK's tubeless, and they don't feel slow on the road at all. I went for a ride with a friend that says he weighs more than I do, and I was out-coasting him on hills. He was running road tires of some variety.

The Riddler 45s are really nice tires although I only have a few hundred miles on them and can't comment on long term durability.

For a mixed surface fat tubeless tire I don't see any downside (unless they completely come apart on me) as they are super comfortable, roll really well and seem to hook up just fine for what they are.

The MSO 50 is intriguing as I really like the 36 tubeless version. If it gets as good of reception as the 36 did they may be the next tire I try after the Riddlers are done.

nano 700x40 are pretty dang fast. and, pretty capable when things get loose (considering they are only 40c).

for more of a slick, the maxxis re-fuse are pretty much bullet proof.

a good in-between would be the rock n roads...
