I think the Fizik is the cheapest good perforated tape you can get, and it is generally a good value - but a quick glance around show that prices are a lot higher than when I bought it last. But it's good tape, I liked mine.l for sure the one time I used it.

I personally prefer to buy the cheap crap and replace it once a year, but that's just me! Cinelli is fine for that.
Cinelli might be on the cheaper side, but it's good tape. A friend taped with Lizard Skins. His tape needs replacing already and my Cinelli looks great. We taped at the same time and I probably ride more miles than he does. Cinelli doesn't delaminate either, like other tapes.

I empathize with the "oops" factor of bar wrapping. Happens to me every time, and I've moved to silicone bar tape as a result. No adhesive, sticky, cushy, cleans up nicely
Recently entirely rebuilt the cockpit of a bike and it was as easy as unwrap, rebuild, rewrap. I had trouble telling which way I had the tape on originally, honestly.

Wolftooth makes a version, as does ESI (the original), but I generally buy the ~$25 eBay version.

All my bikes get Supacaz SSCush or Bontrager GrippyTack. The GrippyTack is perforated, but only comes in black with optional colors perf-holes.

As far as buying, usually just buy at the LBS. or add on a package during a checkout from Jenson, WorldwideCyclery or even the TrailThis store on eBay.

Lizard Skins 2.5. From our shop, via JB or Q.

OP here:

Not really looking for tape recommendations. Was really just looking for an online retailer with a good selection and variety.

Thanks for all the responses so far!

I'll second what @Angry said above, just needed a refresh and BTD had plenty of options across a variety of colors, prices, and materials. I too like to support them as a forum sponsor when I can.

My favorite tape: Sram Service Course Cross tape. They also have a non-textured version. I've been on this stuff for a number of years.

I hesitate to let this out as I don't want all you crazy hoarders to do your thing.

Planet Cyclery has it for $16/roll...which is a good deal. Please only buy ONE roll. Leave some for me*.

*prior to typing this, I ordered multiple rolls so I'm good for a few years now.

Curious: Has anyone tried wrapping their bars with a "gaffer" tape prior to wrapping their bars?

That would help with the issue of leaving residue from the 3M adhesive that's on the back of 90% of handlebar tape

inquiring minds............

Velo orange makes some nice tape and it's usually been like 50% off for like $15. I really like their diamond tape. And I agree on the $50 tape comment!

Gaffer tape is used by... gaffers. Doesn't leave sticky residue on gym floors, walls, stage sets, or wherever you're using it. So it's an improvement over duct tape. I'd stick with regular bar tape, though.

I was asking if it would “in addition to” normal handlebar tape

Sorry. Not sure about that, as gaffer tape is typically used for a few hours or days, then removed. Not sure how it would work if left on for months. The one you posted looks like it might be a bit different than traditional gaffer tape, given that it's meant to be used in a different application.
