Colnago C40 with OOF Paint

Looking at Colnago C40 with B-stay and OOF paint. Extremely good condition. Guessing it's 2003-03. That sound right? Really like the OOF compared to more colorful paint but what's the consensus?

I think that Colnago brought the B-Stay to the C-40 around 2001. (I had an OOF from the year 2000 and it had the traditional seat stays, and I seem to recall them changing it the year after . . . ) OOF is my favorite, and I foolishly sold mine a few years ago.

I just acquired a C40HP to replace it, and I'll be stripping my C-59 (white PR99) to build up the older frame. So that's saying something-

I think that the HP came around in 2003 and ended in 2004. But that's going from memory . . .

Thanks, T, but I never use shims on carbon steerers. Tough to find a 1" threadless.

Serial number should be eteched on the front derailleur braze on mount.

I've run mine with a shimmed stem and haven't died yet....you'll be fine.

Agreed on the serial #. That's where mine is. AND I've used shimmed stems for years. No issues.

Congrats! They're great bikes. I'm on my third one after stupidly selling a B-Stay in the Rabobank paint scheme. Oh well, live and learn.

I have just three comments:
*In my humble opinion, the later c40's are the finest racing bikes that have ever been made.
*NEVER sell a C40 that fits.
*WRT to shims on the stem clamp....If the shim is properly sized for the stem, i.e. came with it and not some botched scrap arrangement, I actually think that it may be BETTER in evenly distributing the clamping force around the circumference of the fork column...

A friend of mine has one of these bikes which I've ridden as well. Definitely a fast, beautiful machine.
