Fenders for 700x30ish?

Can someone recommend a fender for plump ~30 mm tire?

There are a bunch of fenders that are beset suited to a 25mm or smallish 28mm tire and then wider fenders for 35+. I'm looking for the middle ground that will fit a 30mm tire under a long reach (57mm) brake caliper nicely without getting squeezed, etc.

There's tons of stuff out there. If you just want a basic plastic fender, the Planet Bike thin model (cascadia?) works well: http://ecom1.planetbike.com/fenders.html

I have SKS Longboards on my touring bike, and I like 'em.

If you want hammered metal or fluted there are several options, including Velo Orange and Honjo.

I used the 45mm Velo Orange fenders with 32c paselas and it was a pretty good fit.

Im in the same boat!

im about to try the 45mm sks fenders on the Lyon with 32s. the 35mm (which measure 40mm wide?) fenders on the Waterford don't work well with 30s. i can sort of make em fit, but its not tidy. ill report back soon on the 45mm sks fenders and how the fit under the TRP mid reach brakes.

Depending on what your level of comfort is, and how close a fit you want, i'm sure that between Berthoud and Honjo you can find something. I have Honjo 35 that work with 28, though the fit is close. They have a dizzying variety of sizes and profiles, including 40, so I would bet one of them would be a nice fit. Berthoud has a nominal 41mm that could work also.

Exactly as you mentioned, I ran a pair of VO 35mm fender and they were taxed by a small 28 tire (GP4s) and bumped up to a 45mm which easily clear a Compass 32s which measure 34mm wide. Berthoud does offer a 40mm fender rec'd for 23-32 tires and stainless steel is now my preferred fender mat'l.

700x45mm fenders will look great.

This is what a 45mm Honjo LaPaon looks like over an actual 30mm tire with mid-reach centerpulls. I have used the same fenders under Tektro R539, I believe.

By no means are the fenders too big.

If you're going for a more modern look, I'd recommend the PDW Full Metal Fenders

Colonel,

Along with those Honjo's, that's one really nice looking bike...

Cheers.

Handsome fenders. Looks like a full-time polishing job there.
45mm Honjos get a little tight under long reach brakes... maybe a 41 Honjo would be about right....Simworks by Honjo has some nice options.
Just don't know if I can go back to aluminum fenders after having gotten used to easy and cheap plastic fenders. The PDW's are a nice compromise, and maybe they could be pinched-in where that matters.

Those SimWorks designs are cool. That "Flat 42" looks awesome and just right for your purpose.

After a couple years and rain rides those Honjos got a little faded, but about 10 minutes with an old t-shirt and some Blue Magic polish and they were good for a few more years.
