Guidance on Eddy Merckx Team SC

Hi All,

I am looking to get some pricing-for-sale guidance. I have a buddy with a clean Eddy Merckx Team SC, Domo Farm Frites colors (?), 58 cm, Dura Ace, Mavic wheelset, Deda bar, etc. What's a fair price?

Thanks,

Taylor

I'm interested in purchasing this bike, or at least the frameset. Also not sure what value is fair.

Start with $1500 and adjust accordingly to the market conditions.

Thanks for the feedback. I know my buddy would really like to sell the entire bike, not just the frame. I took a look at it today, and it does seem to be in nice condition. The Dura Ace looks well cared for, with a small scuff at the bottom of the RD. Wheels look brand new. Bike would come with a few spares (a taller-geared cassette and what I think may be the original stem).

Thanks again,

Taylor

Can't help with pricing in the US, but this is one of the team replica bikes to have for those in the know.

Easton Scandium tubing, good paint, all period correct gear (except stem as noted). If it's your size take it for a ride and hear that baby sing.

BTW, these things are strong and robust, but the worked Sc/aluminium tubing is very very thin, down to 0.4mm on the top tube. DO NOT lean this bike in a doorframe or anywhere it can slip.

Team SC

Nice bike but not a valuable bike.
If I was a buyer I would want to get it for about $1,000.

Forks were nothing special, limited clearance. Rides well though.

depends what valuable means to you I guess. Tons of people love these bikes and in this common size they can go for a nice amount of money (for age/material). People also love this paint scheme. I think its worth more than $1000 but not $1500 so right in the middle I would say. Frame is definitely worth $600/$700 in that good of a shape and that size.

1200 is the upper limit IMO

Would sell instantly for 800.

And at 1200 it'll take some time to sell but not more then a few weeks

Merckx

Merckx frames do evoke an emotional response.
That leads people to overpay for them.
You shouldn't forget that it is a 15 year old bike made of super light tubing with zero warranty.

Agree that about $1000 is right for this bike.
Frames are between $400 and $650.
