Personally never been into the aesthetic of plain ti SP/stem/cages on a plain ti frame. Unless of course I wanted the Blueman look for my road frame, which has an appeal which tends to blur out line, flow, contrast.

Now take those same ti components and put them with a Serotta 3/4 paint w/ ti rear triangle, or the same on a Tom Kellogg with masked out ti frame logos...

Any thoughts on Ti stems? Bad idea?

I would be tempted to go with a titanium stem but I've never used one so take that for what it's worth. I just love the ti frame, post, stem, cages look.

Wow, clean looking frame!

I think it needs a post with a little setback, hopefully that suits your position!

Yes, I need setback - it came with a second one that is ~25mm, but I'm concerned about insertion - it's only a 300mm post.

I'm curious why Ergott implies one shouldn't use a titanium stem. Flex?

I've used a 100mm 31.8 and found it nice. I used it simply for the matchy match of titanium frame and seat post.

Ti stems tend to cost a lot more and there's nothing wrong with a good old aluminium stem. I'm only half serious. If you don't mind the extra cost they're fine.

I'd bag the decals also. A riding buddy has a Lynskey and the decals do nothing for me. I purchased a Moots new and had them leave off the decals. I had Spectrum Powder Works do all but the rear in orange powder. Glad I never put on their decals. I did mount the head badge.

I'd dump the decals as well, especially on a Ti frame. In fact wish I could get rid of the decals on my bikes with the wave of my hand. And all the logos, too..

To come?

Super Record 11 w. 5 arm UT, a new 3T LTD fork, Neutron Ultras, 3T finishing kit, and a new decal set. Still deciding on which 60mm tubs to get for race day..

The goal is to be all cleaned up and on the road by mid-month, and I'm hoping to come in under 17lbs.

Stay tuned for the big reveal

Send the frame to Lynskey and have the logos bead blasted.

Started pulling off some bits that sold - that seat weighs ~350g! Makes me feel better about being able to get it in the 16lb range once built properly..

Great looking bike - I agree that Moots totally work with the full Ti treatment..

Took it out to ride an unsanctioned GPS-based hillclimb TT today. I forgot how large-tubed frames transmit noise, but other than that, it felt pretty dang good - even with the garden-hose tires, crap wheels, and no bar tape Even PR'd a circus climb up the steepest road in Portland (not the TT course unfortunately) - in the wet and with a couple spin-outs .

NW Brynwood Lane? With that gearing? Is it a compact crank? Impressive indeed. I could not keep my front wheel on the road.

Yep. 52/36 and 11/32 (I think). It's a beast - for those who aren't in Portland, it's ~0.3mi, ~300ft gain, avg. 18% w some high 20s. KOM is 2:01 - mine was 5:18 including three spinout restarts.
