Hugi DT Swiss 240 Hubset

I had a hubset before and loved them ... wish I kept the wheelset

Been looking to pick-up another hubset and saw these on the Bay. After closer examination they appear to be fakes when compared to the used rear hubs currently for sale.
- the length outside the non drive side flange is longer
- between the flanges, the drive side area appears different

Any Hugi 240 hubset owners that have a similar rear hub?

Also, this is the 3rd brand new hubset the seller posted via E-Bay. I thought these were discontinued and pretty hard to find

I don't know whether they are real or not but the writing is the same as that on the original two generations of 240 hubs....240 not the improved 240S. Those early models sucked -poor quality bearings, star ratchet engagement problems, cracked flanges, etc- and should be avoided.

Those look real to me, but I wouldn't pay that much for them. You can a set of 240s from this generation for less than that if you're patient.
For what it's worth, I'm beating the snot out of a set of these I picked up here as part of an older wheel-set. Unknown miles but I guess a lot!

If you think those are a good deal you should go over to MTBR.com and read the Hugi hub reviews posted between 1999-2005. They also were used for a short period around 2000 to build Bontrager Racelite wheelsets with similar disastrous results.

Ya gotta be careful with those old Hugi hubs. Some of them can be converted to 11sp with a new FH body, some can't.

I picked up a free 26er wheelset with some convertible hubs at DCCX 2 years ago. No one wanted them 'cause they were rim-brake only. I saw the diamond in the rough and built some nice 11sp wheels out of them

Sold them on a bike a bit later, but rode em like I stole em in the meantime
