That's very sad. The link between many high performing athletes and depression is a strong one. It's tragic that he wasn't treated.

Very sad indeed...I can't imagine what his parents are going through. My heart goes out to his family.

i know what you're trying to say, but i recommend not using the term "waste" when somebody feels so lost that they take their life. it'll set some people off because they can read it as implying that their worth is limited their athletic potential.

Any parents worse nightmare, loosing a child...for any reason..this is very sad.

I agree it was a poor word choice; "loss" would have been better. I meant to imply a tragic waste of promise and potential in one so young. It's quite possible no one, even family and close friends, had any idea he was suffering from depression or suicidal thoughts.
