Made some changes.
>Replaced the wheels with silver White Industries T11 > silver Sapim CX-Ray > hard ano H Plus Son Archetypes that I had built when I built up the Lemond
>Added some brown sidewall Panaracer Gravel Kings in the 26c width - which barely clears the rear caliper due to how low the brake bridge is
>Change the saddle to a Selle San Marco Concor Light
>Swapped the 50/34 rings for 52/36
>Added 9000 skewers
>Swapped the 6800 shifters and rear derailleur for Dura-Ace 9001 shifters and 9000 rear derailleur.

Natural light pictures when I get in a nice afternoon ride.

Saving the 6800 bits and Brooks C13 that I took off for my new Thrive.

I am a fan of all of the updates but the silver hubs, silver spokes, and brown tires really do it for me. Subtle but impactful changes.

Nice morning. Snapped a couple of decent pics when I had a few minutes.

So good. I kind of want to see it with full 9000.

Thought about it. Couldn't really justify $300 used for cranks when a new 6800 was only $150. It would definitely look great.

I would keep an eye out. As 9100 become more common, used 9000 should get cheaper. The FD and brakes should be cheap. The cranks would be the most impactful. The silver could really work on this.

I have all the grail bikes I need (or that my wife will let me have) but I still lust after a real Merckx. Lovely bike.

This bike makes me smile. Just perfect in my wheelhouse.
The way it sits and the lines of the tubes are just perfect.
I couldn't help but notice how similar your setup is to my HampCo MAX.
Check the pic. They both look cobble ready.

Nice! Those are indeed quite similar. I'd love a HampCo MAX... maybe even a Strada Bianca MAX. Tire clearance is the only thing I would like to improve on this Merckx. You can fit a 28 in the fork, but with the brake bridge so low, a 26 is a super tight squeeze.

I also need to get a Campy bike one of these days.

Dude that Merckx is epic.
I ride the Hampsten mostly with Veloflex Master 25s on the Shamals and it's incredibly nimble in that setup. With the 28s it's super plush.
If you were local we could swap them out for a ride. Nice job on this.. one of my faves!

You should still call Steve though.. just saying.

I really like all the changes you made, it looks awesome. The low brake bridge seems to a common issue with owners who want to run a wider tire.

Toyed with selling this frame, decided to keep it and build it up with a couple of changes.

-Had a local framebuilder spread the seatpost clamp lug and ream the seat tube for a 27.2 seatpost - now running a Sim-Works Beatnik post.

-Picked up a Record 10 compact/UT/QS groupset from another forum member - my first Campy groupset - and I'm pretty stoked on it so far. Definitely suits the vibe of this bike.

-Bought a Campy freehub for the BHS/Archetype wheels I already have to keep the budget down. In the future, this needs black Record hubs laced to Open Pros. Or something.
