Ticking sound: What do you think it is? I found out

So i take my CX out for a easy 25 miles or so…just to get out and back to watch the tour.

Hear a ticking noise…seems to come from the back…both pedaling and not pedaling.

I found out what it is…but I am going to put it out here and see what the group thinks it may be…for future reference in case.

Only comes from the back
Speed variation (faster when going faster and slower tick when slower)
Both pedaling and non pedaling
Goes away with getting weight forward, intensifies with weight in back
Ruled out speed/cadence sensor and spokes all good
Continues with rear brake applied or released.

Equipement in rear:
Chorus 10spd RD, Cassette, wheel is a HED rim with King R45 rear hub equipped with Challenge Fango Tubulars.

Let the guessing begin!

I hope it's not a carbon fiber frame,if so that ticking sound you hear could be a warning it's about to explode.

Only carbon on the Bedford CX is the Enve fork and body of the RD…none in the frame.

Ticking! Is it a carbon fiber frame? If so, get the wife and kiddies out of the house now because it's going to explode.

Sure was…had to take a piece of slim object to pad between the stem and the hole. Just enough off to cause the tick….took about an hour to figure it out on the ride.

Now I am going to find a more permanent solution till I rip the tubular off.

Gotta be. I've had this one myself, typically an issue only with tubular tires IME.

Pro mechs sometimes use black electrical tape. Elegant fix, not exactly...

Often but not always. Carbon clinchers can do it too.

That's what I use, and I'm no pro mechanic.

Could the shorter of these work?
