Many iterations of the CAAD bikes (particularly the CAAD9 and CAAD10, if I'm not mistaken) can take surprisingly wide tires.

It will take 2.1 inches when set up 650B but I wouldn't call it a race bike unless you're talking about DK200 etc... Vroomen's newer 3T aero 1X road bike would qualify but I doubt that's what the OP is looking for or to spend.

This guy sqeezed 30c Strada Bianca's on an Allez Sprint with 21mm internal width rims.
https://imgur.com/a/IyOOX Not much more "racey" than a Sprint. Last edited by Bwana; 09-19-2017 at 12:53 PM. |

As an extra data point, my race bike, a Focus Cayo, fits 28s easily. There is some room left but I haven't tried any wider so I can't guarantee that 30s or 32s would fit.

A new (2018) Tarmac is spec'd for 30mm tires, just like the new Trek Emonda. And both these bikes need no introduction to being proper lightweight race bikes. |

I'm a Parlee partisan, but I would also check out the Giant line and measure what tires they'll accept; even their "lesser" models look pretty race worthy. |

Tarmac
I do mean 2018 S Works Tarmac- I guess it is SL6 as last model was SL5- it will take a measured 28- It will not really take bigger than that. Will for sure not take the GP4000 II 700x28mm.
And I have had my hands on this bike- measured all around. I am not making it up. I will say it takes bigger than 25's- does not really take 30's. Quote:

I highly recommend the Trek ALR as well.. rode it in Sweden for about a month and came away very impressed. I ran 28s with no issue at all on so many gravel roads... I'd jump on it if you find a good deal.

Velofinds,
Since your open to a Zank or Hampsten, let me plug Steve for a minute. Steve has been doing Strada Bianca's for many years and has a very reasonable (for custom) lead time. If I was looking for a "race bike" that could fit fat tires Steve would be the first guy I'd call. Sorry for my crappy pic as its dark outside and my Hampco lives in the house. This particular bike holds me back in no way other than weight, and that's in my build more so than the frame. I would not hesitate to race this bike had I the fitness to do so. It gets fendered in the winter and can easily fit 32's in the summer. Of the bikes I own, this one gets the most attention, especially with Honjo fenders. It's an LDV (La Dolca Vita) frame with D11 headtube and MAX chainstays. Big round Life tubes everywhere else. Steve designed it in Strada Bianca geometry with a Seven fork for mid reach (57mm) brakes. Given what you're describing (and I was after the same thing) this checks all my boxes. For reference, saddle height is 66cm, top tube is 53cm and stem is -17 in 100mm. Disclaimer: I'm in the que for a Zank, but it'll only fit 28's and no larger with an ENVE 1.5" tapered fork. Just trying to help.... Last edited by Jimbo251; 09-19-2017 at 10:41 PM. |

My friend's LOW road frame fits 28mm GP4000IIs, but the ENVE fork doesn't.

Which ENVE fork? My 2.0 fits Conti and Vittoria 28s on wide rims with no problem.
