OT-'diesel' oil in gas engine?

Bought this from my wrench for a road trip with JSW TDI....never used it...can I use it in my non turbo gas 2000 Beetle?

I guess by "diesel oil" you don't mean diesel fuel but is it an additive for diesel fuel or are you referring to 5 quarts lube oil for the sump of a diesel?

Engine oil, not fuel additive. Forgot the pic.

Engine Oil for VW

Check the back panel of the oil bottle. Look for the applicable VW spec. the oil meets. If it the same as the owner's manual of the car calls for then you are good to go!

yes, it's fine. meets both VW 504 and 507 spec. OK for gas engines.

Diesel oils became unique when zinc dialkyldithiophosphate (ZDDP) was being reduced or removed from automotive oils to save catalytic converters and EGR systems and more detergents were added to auto oils. Diesel oils are great for older cars w/o converters, I use it in my '68 'cuda. I think even diesel oils have had these additives reduced, but can't say what true negatives you might experience in only one or two oil change cycles.

The "converters" on a heavy duty diesel are more sensitive to metals in oil than the converters on cars. They also cost about 15k to replace when the system fails. I probably do about 4-5 a month. Nice money.
The oil will be fine.

I think to keep your VW Warranty in effect you have to show proof that SOMEONE (it can be the owner) did oil/filter changes as recommended in the Owner's Manual. If you have the receipt showing that you bought VW-approved oils and filters for your car you have met the requirement.

Funny story. I was riding my Superhawk 996 home to Portland from up in Seattle in December 1999. It was freezing, and doing 100+mph in the middle of the night was leaving me a little extra shivery. I pulled into a gas station in Toledo, WA just off I-5 to fill up and warm my hands. After I gassed up, I took back off on the freeway. And a couple hundred yards up the on-ramp my bike started to sputter and spit flames out the tailpipes. Freaked the heck out of me. I thought the thing was going to explode. But I safely pulled over - called a tow-truck and had a buddy who lived up in Chehalis come pick me up. I was quite embarrassed to find out the next day at the Honda dealer that I'd put diesel in the tank...

Yeah you're fine. I use Rotella T6 in my gas Montero. Mitsu engines really like the high zinc content.
