Bryton 10e (cheap GPS bike computer)......
So I'm reading thru RBA magazine & amongst all the gravel & MTB/trail stuff that maybe shouldn't be in RBA was a full-page ad for:
Bryton $59 GPS bike computer I'm hooked...WTH is this?? I read up & can't find much so figure I'll head over here & see if anybody has one, knows and/or has an opinion. https://www.modernbike.com/bryton-ri...cling-computer The biggest problem for the step up from this (310 with more features) is that the usb charging port fails right around warranty time. (problem with their whole line or just the 310?) Anyway........watched the video, intrigued & curious. Last edited by loimpact; 08-20-2017 at 12:33 AM. |

Be careful
Bryton doesn't have the greatest reputation. DC Rainmaker doesn't even review them. Giant is starting to distribute them so they may get better. If you want low price look at Lezyne. There are most likely many new announcements coming soon to the GPS scene as show time is coming in Europe and US. Garmin 1030 is coming though it will be pricey.
I would stay with Garmin, Wahoo Bolt, or Lezyne for the time being. Remember these are controlled by computer code so they can get incredibly frustrating if they don't work as planned and have software issues and/or you aren't technical etc. Read DC Rainmaker's site which has recommendations at: https://www.dcrainmaker.com/ Alan |

I have used a Bryton Ride computer for nearly 4 years. It still works reliably, and I hardly ever have GPS crashes (which have afflicted many of my Garmin owning friends). I use Bryton Bridge to save the files from my GPS to my PC and then upload them to Strava, so I don't use the Bryton software at all. If you just want to enjoy tracking your rides, it ought to be fine.

It looks much like the Cateye Stealth 50 I've been using for the last year or so. Reliable, not too cantankerous to manage and uploads smoothly to Strava.

I have one. Think it's the 330 model. It's not so bad...few quirks but as reliable if not more than my Garmin 510 was at 1/3 the cost. I emailed them once than their NP power wasn't working and they fixed in the next release. Battery life is crazy good. Only issue I had was their file format wouldn't work with golden cheetah so I switched to a Wahoo bolt. Don't think I'll ever own another Garmin product after using the Bolt.

Thanks guys! (I lost track of this thread)
I've requested a 520 as a b-day gift as I believe it to simply be the best all around bike GPS. But.....should any family/friends/wife/girlfri.....errr.wait...LOL......find that to be too expensive, I'd almost be willing to be a guinea pig on that $53 unit (or probably go with the 10c which gives cadence or an extra $20). Also, if you page thru the Amazon reviews, more than one person said that Bryton didn't respond to warranty requests at all. And there were several reports of the USB port coming out. On the other hand, many credit cards do offer extended warranty coverage. Do retain the materials describing the original warranty coverage, and your receipt. |
