Roberto Uran's stage 9 power file...
I thought this was a pretty neat article from Training Peaks, I usually enjoy looking at these.
https://www.trainingpeaks.com/blog/s..._07_newsletter This file looks way less superhuman than some to me. Very fast, but believable. |

That is an interesting set of numbers. But looking at his 63kg mass, its almost off the chart in my world. 4.63 W/kg normalized average over 5hr is pretty high.

I wish I were 63kg.... would make my w/kg go way up!

Except these were his numbers from Stage 9.
I recently did a ride where my normalized power was almost 250W for 4 hours. But I weigh 100 kg so it didn't mean much. Now if I could lose 35 kg, looks like I would be flying |

^ ok so 8 days of racing. And he's measuring his effort for the rest of the race. Still impressive.

I mostly think it looks reasonable cause it hasn't been that long since we were being told 450w+ up those mountains was reasonable and wasn't drugs.

Because it is. Your average domestic pro can do it. For three straight weeks, though, then they don't do so well.

Right.. that's the way it seems to me. As opposed to "this performance would drop your average domestic pro in 1 mile on Day 1 and he's doing it for 20 days straight."

Your average domestic pro with a 450W-500W FTP trains for 3-5 day events, because those are the kinds of events they compete in.

I suppose you have to drop that many watts to get over that 12 full time.

That range from what I read is "Lance Armstrong/Bjarne Riis/Jan Ullrich at their prime doped to the gills". |
