Pirelli re-entering bike tire market

I wasn't aware that Pirelli owned the Clement brand, but they are coming back with tires under the Pirelli label now too.

very cool.

wonder how they will compare to the top tires from vittoria and veloflex who have had much more experience honing a well designed bicycle tire?

my favorite car and motorcycle tires, for sure.

So Pirelli owns the "rights" to the name Clement, apparently the brand is owned by Donn Kellogg that actually makes and markets the tires

Maybe Pirelli can be the premium offering from Clement. I like some of the clement tires, but they could use some more supple offerings.

No chance they would come back to the bicycle tire market with tubulars. Way too small of a market.

It's not like they are actually going to *make* anything...They'll just contract for some far east sourced product, slap on the Italian name and call it good...

Was wondering the same thing. If they will go to CX market they have to get tubulars in their lineup.

Starting with 4 clincher road tires.

Color coded similar to F1 system.

Not manufactured in China but going to be made in one of the major factories.

US distributor is set and tires will be here for 2018.

Yes they own Clement, but that name is licensed to Donnelly Sports so they are competing against their licensee in the road market. These are separate business entities.

Pirelli US has nothing to do with the bike tire effort. That is all Europe and the US distributor.
