Help building this frame

I'm tired of having this frame just taking up space. I've never had a gravel/allroad type bike, and thought this would make a decent runabout.

It was setup as a single speed when I bought it, and I need to find a derailleur hanger for it. Civia is still around I think, but barely?

So, what do I need here?

Civia distributed(owned) by Quality Bike Parts..you probably have a bike shop locally who has an account with them..

Like Old Spud said, I'd work with your local bike shop, or even reach out to Civia directly through their website.

If my memory serves me correctly, the Hyland was discontinued years ago, and I believe QBP sold off all the inventory that was in their warehouses, but that doesn't mean they don't have a set stashed away somewhere on a desk. I'd say its worth reaching out to them and asking.

I had a Civia Bryant for a while, which had an interchangeable dropout and split stay to run as a belt drive, and I wasn't even able to get the belt drive/single speed drop outs before they weren't available anymore.

Hope that helps!

That red cart with an x in it also means it's out of stock.. that frame has been discontinued for at least 4 years.

If you have trouble finding the dropout replacement I'd probably just buy this. Or even a cheap SunRace one will allow you to mount a derailleur and evaluate the frame.

You might get one custom made. Couldn't be too expensive.

Response from civia, this frame was built as a single speed or internal hub Indy, so no dropout lugs available :-(

Looks easy enough to fab, but by who?

Any ideas?

I'd just buy a cheap claw first. If that proves not to be a good permanent solution then go from there.

Any local machinist with a bridgeport could make you a replacement, but it would likely cost more than the frame is worth.

Might be worth taking some measurements and talking to the guys at Paragon Machine Works on the off chance that their sliding dropout could be fenangled into working on this frame. You'd lose a lot of adjustability if it did fit (which I'm betting it won't-looks like the stock one fits into a channel which the paragon design doesn't use but it's only a $15 experiment. They might also be a source to whip you up something custom. They are setup up to do it, time would be the question.

Ok, making progress slowly.

Aerospace mechanic friend is machining a derailleur hanger for me as we speak for a case of beer.

Was originally shooting for Alfine rear hub, Dino front hub, and gates drive.

I have decided to just do this one on the cheap, as it is not a bike I'm not likely to love, but rather a useful bike for commuting, gravel, and bad weather.

I'm $200 all in so far as I bought the Bike in 3sp fixie form.

Decided to use the steel fork that came with the bike as it is already disc and fender ready.

I have a full ultegra groupset (10sp 6800) just sitting in a box that will work fine for now. Just don't tell old poatatoe and please don't tell weisan

Ritchey wcs bar, stem, seatpost all good.

I have an avid front disc brake (bb7 road) and I figure I'll just buy another for the rear as it is cheap, easy, and I hear works with the sti levers.

Wheels.......I need wheels.

Should I:

A) spend the money to have have a dyno front hub 650 set built so I can run ballooney tires and light up the night?
B) just buy a used set of 650 shimano disc wheels to get it on the road?
C) go with 700 size and use cross sized tires?

Either B or C imo. The thinking that you may cary the wheels over to the next dream build etc never really works out imo so i wouldn't spend what A requires if i dident allrdy love the rest.
