Ride suggestions near Chico?

Going to be in the area (Lassen) over the weekend, and wanting to get a short (40-60) mi ride in with medium climbing - nothing insane, but also not riding hybrids along the bike path next to the river... think "cat 3 lunch ride" kind of routes?

Wondering if anyone is familiar with the area and has suggestions. Low traffic routes preferred, okay if it doesn't start near Chico, we will be probably mobile.

Chico

Chico is the home of the wild flower ride in the spring
just start that ride you can come home by taking a short cut back to town

Chico itself is the best place to start a lot of rides. Beautiful Canyon and hill rides begin just a mile or two east of town. Lassen is pretty nice but you're limited to the highways that you see there.

Thanks! I checked the Wildflower route, and it looks like Honey Run Road is the ticket. Made a little double-loop up one valley to Paradise, down another, back up the other, and then back down the first.

In Chico, if you're wanting to stop the car and get out and look around look for Bidwell Park especially the lower park near the swimming area.

Thanks all! Wound up doing Honey Run up to Paradise, and then hitting Sierra Nevada for a gigantic burger.

Was a good day.

Excellent. One of the all-time great Chico rides. The next one on the list is Cherokee.
