Ended up on the Crosshairs on the road with 28c Gatorskins on. Tires ride like poo, but they make up for it by being tough.

1 x 2km-ish stretch of freshly plowed (read gravel stirred up) dirt road.

I gotta say I've ridden Gators when I was commuting then got a set of 28mm Clement Stradas and they have held up just as well both in San Diego and now in Alaska... and the ride is SO much better than the Gators...

Wanted a bike I could take out to the country when my wife's riding her horse. Carl builds a great great bike. This is smooth, stable and fast in all conditions. Spent the last three weeks riding her in the KC snow.

The Gatorskins were very free...

I don't like em, but free makes up for a lot of sins.

A lot of very nice rides here, all up to the challenge of a gravel ride, but I have to say that Strada Fango is the kicker! Dave hit that one out of the park imo.

Thanks all the nice comments, hopefully I can get some decent miles in before gravel season starts around here. Weather lately has been pretty unpleasant, but I've gotta get my butt moving soon, rides start in April (Dairy Roubaix and Strada Fango) and things get real in May (Almanzo)!

The fat tire rando frame is just the bike I've been thinking about.
Aside from the brakes, is the Strada Fango much different?
I've read that disc brakes can wear quickly in dry, dusty conditions. Do you think they are necessary on a drb or were you just playing?

My version, taken on yesterday's ride in the Patuxent River area of southern Maryland. The only thing it won't do is fit my Bruce Gordon 700 x 43 tires!
(The Black Mountain monster cross will.)

What size tires do you have on this bike? I have the exact same frame laying around, and hadn't considered knobby tires as an option.
