Actually, I think filet brazing is heavier than welding. Probably a wash compared to lugs.

ah, now I can come out of the closet ... I have always been partial to the looks of nicely tig'd or fillet brazed frame. Perhaps it is a New England: Fat, IF, Seven, Good Harbor Fillet ...

^^^ that guy's fillet brazed seat cluster is probably the main reason why I would stray from lugs.
