If you take the freehub off and file the squared end of the pawl to a rounder softer edge it will quiet them down a little bit. your could also crush the springs so they don't push so far up. the centrifugal force will let the pawls make contact. Be aware this is the equivalent of adding miles/wear to them.
Good to know! I've tried packing them heavier but I end up with this eccentirc buzzing that drives me crazy.

Hügi. I rode the Ramrod about 20 years back. One of the riders leading a large group which I sat in on, scared the hell out of me every time he let up on the pedals. Nothing compares to that old Hügi.

Yes, I have some loud hubs, and I look forward to getting some Onyx ones - I am pretty done with loud ratcheting hubs!

On the 240s you have to file down or round/soften the little ramps that run against each other to quiet them. the teeth on the outer circle are guides for sliding up and down in the hub, they don't generate a noise.
