And I use custom in ear monitors and have reference audiophile speakers at home.

On topic, I would be $300 less poor if my iPhone 6s was water resistant.
I have friends who swear they can tell, I know that I can't. I can tell a decent pair of phones designed for portable from junk.

Anybody concerned about the profoundly unethical practices used to make these things? I've got a 5s that'll get replaced with a company with better practices once it's pooped out. Children in Africa mining heavy metals, suicide-watch Chinese factories... Others have similar problems, but Apple's pretty bad.

'Company with better practices'....and who would that be?

Did Apple purchase mining and manufacturing operations?

Are you referring to Foxconn? They are a subcontractor used for many big name companies. Apple, Amazon, Sony, RIM...

are there examples you can site that are specific to Apple? It appears to be a problem with the industries and countries more than a specific company. It's still a concern, but switching brands isn't likely to help.

I guess that's no. That was item 2 on my list of hopes after water "resistant". The aesthetics of these phones means nothing if I have to cover it with something to keep it from breaking. And for that matter, I'm seeing water proof casing for the 6 and 6s, although I haven't tried any of them, nor am I sure of their quality.

None of the "new" iPhone features make me want to upgrade. I think I'm going to wait until the 10 year anniversary iPhone drops and decide then.

Charging my phone while listening to headphones that don't require a charge, or a dongle(guessing someone will make these based on the amount of people I see plugged in and listening), is where I'll be for another year...

ordered this morning. 2-3weeks to ship for the 7+ in black. piano black not available until november.

fyi if you're ordering, applecare now covers up to 2 damage "events" (broken screen, etc.) so is well worth the $129 IMO.

Does new phone have Ant+ antennae yet?

So convenient having that for HR monitor and power meter. Connection is more reliable than Bluetooth.

This thread is classic. My daughters after accidently dropping their old phones in the toilet after previous iphone releases, have said they are happy to wait for the 8. It will let apple get the kinks out of the wireless stuff.

Now we have a thread with a bunch of middle age cyclists debating the iphone. I think this means the iphone is deader than dead. It is a bit like Matt Damon sporting a Man Bun this year at the Jason Bourne rollout. A clear sign of end of trend.

Time to cut the knot.

What are you talking about?

Smart phones are here to stay and iPhones, as trendy as they are, are a huge part of the market. They have some features about them that people prefer over Android and trendy isn't really the issue.

Rated 10/10.
I am in the same situation as SAAB. Is better camera and not having to use a Ziploc bag worth $749, probably not.
