Caliper Clearance
Can anyone think of a brake caliper with a bit more underside clearance than a 2012 SR caliper?
The only limiting factor for tire clearance since switching to an Oltre XR1 is the same Super Record caliper (FRONT) I used on a Cento1, which provided more clearance. I don't change frames because of this, but would also like a bit more clearance at the front caliper. I realize there are technical documents awaiting my study, but I thought I'd put it out there for anyone who may have a quick answer! Thanks. Last edited by YesNdeed; 10-23-2017 at 08:18 AM. |

Many brakes- certainly DA, etc. The campy brakes from that era actually loose clearance as you squeeze the lever due to the shape of the arms, where most gain small amounts of room.
The differences are going to be small at best, through. |

This has come up in the past and I believe the responses are that most Shimano and SRAM calipers, as well as non-skeleton Campy calipers, will offer more clearance due to their design.

I think the new-gen EE brakes were designed with larger tires in mind too?

2015 Chorus and above have more clearance, DP both end models.

Thanks. Time for a WTB thread. Or a visit from the angle grinder.

I had the same problem with my new Hampsten. I switched to DA 7800 brakes and now have gobs of clearance and better braking, too.
