Last weekend we went up to . . .

. . . the Schroon Lake area in the Adirondacks, where things were just about perfect. We skipped the riding this time in favor of some walks in the woods. It rained hard all day Saturday, but that just imparted a different look to the foliage. So the best of both worlds in one weekend.

Nice. I'm hoping to hit that stretch of 202 tomorrow afternoon, though I still have never circumnavigated the Quabbin. Is that route online anywhere? I'd like to do it sometime. I was up in NH today and the colors were near perfect. Same thing, wanted to take more pics.... But being present in the moment was more important.

Ramble along the Wenham Grand Canal and Danvers Rail Trail.

About 40 miles total today on my Super-X with Clement USH tires.

A perfect, crisp New England autumn day with clear blue skies, pretty scenery, and a cool bench.

Here's a couple from today's ride, 80 miles of gravel and pavement. Not much sun and showers hampered the picture taking, as you can see by the water on the lens in the last one.

It's definitely on Map My Ride, but I can describe it simply. I don't know where you are starting from but from 202N in Orange take a right on 122S towards Petersham. Before you get to Petersham take a right on 32A towards Hardwick. When you come into Hardwick take a sharp right on Greenwich Road. Stay on Greenwich Road (stop for a taste at the winery if that's your thing) into Ware. You will pass Snows Restaurant (good seafood and local beer) on your right. Take the next right on the road that goes through the playing fields. There will be a closed gate at the end but you can ride around it. At the end of the street take a right on 9W. The park entrance is about 3 miles on your right. Take this to the tower. The race finish is about 100m before the rotary.

Nice. Thanks! I'm in Leverett, so would hit 202 from the west (Shutesbury or Amherst/Pelham) and then head North. I know some of those roads from motorcycle rides, but haven't made my way around by bike yet. If I don't get to it this fall, I'll definitely make a point to get around it in the spring. Thanks again (also for the wine and seafood tips!).
